Like Raindrops on Water

“Most people say they would love to write a book one day. But I never thought that. With years as a technical writer, producing countless user manuals for computer software, it never occurred to me that I would write a novel. But that was before I found myself in the Amazon jungle.
“Like Raindrops on Water was something that just came about. The stars did their lining up stuff and time and resources became available, and some wonderful people stepped in to help.
“My first challenge was to discount the fact that I had no experience, had never attended any writing courses, and only just scraped through English exams at school. Ha!! But I persuaded myself that, if I can write computer software user manuals that were actually easy to understand, maybe I can write about some of the things I have learned and seen, and about my hopes for us all, in a way that is easy to read.
“So, inspired by the energy of Peru and the magic of the jungle, I started researching and writing. I drew on experiences from living in the Amazon jungle and combined it with my hopes and imagination of a better life for all of us.
“I was born and grew up in London and then spent about half my life in Australia, and a few other countries. I currently live in Iquitos, deep in the Peruvian Amazon jungle.”
